League One side MK Don hit Manchester United 4-0 to send the Reds out of Capital One Cup

Manchester United have been sent out of the Capital One Cup second round, after a 4-0 bashing by MK Dons on Tuesday night.

United manager Louis van Gaal opted  for a mix of fringe players, with Danny Welbeck, Javier Hernandez, Anderson and Shinji Kagawa.

The League One side capitalised on Johnny Evans’ error to take the lead before half time through  Will Grigg. The striker made it 2-0 with a chested effort, before Arsenal loaneee grabbed a second-half brace to complete United’s humiliation.

Van Gaal is yet to win a competitive game in charge of the Premier League side, who entered this stage of the competition because they are not playing in Europe this season
