Morocco bags two year ban plus fine for refusing to host Afcon 2015

Reports have it that Confederation of African Football CAF has slammed Morocco with two year ban from the next two Africa Cup of Nations as punishment for refusing to host the 2015.

"We are going to stick to the rules, that means elimination from the next two Nations Cups," Hayatou told France's L'Equipe sports daily.

"On top of that there will be the financial and moral damages to calculate."

Morocco are facing a $20 million fine for refusing to host the 2015 Cup in its scheduled 17 January - 8 February 8 slot over fears of the spread of the deadly Ebola epidemic to the popular tourist destination, Morocco's Le Matin newspaper suggested this week.

However, Equatorial Guinea have volunteered to host the prestigious African Football festival come next year.

Final Warning: FIFA issues Nigeria September 8 deadline

FIFA has given the Nigerian Football Federation up until Monday 8 September to put its house in order else the dangling hammer will fall.

 

According to a statement on the world governing football body's website issued on Wednesday handing Chris Giwa more grace to stand down as the head of the NFF along side his executives.

 

''The NFF will be suspended with immediate effect should there still be persons claiming to have been elected to NFF positions on 26 August 2014 and occupying their offices on Monday, 8 September 2014 at 08.00 (Central European Time),'' the statement read.

 

From the above position, it could therefore be said that the recognised leader of the NFF is Aminu Maigari.

 

 The statement further reads:

 ''Should the new deadline not be respected, the NFF will be automatically suspended until the board claiming to be elected vacates the premises of the NFF and the NFF General Secretary is able to perform his work without interference.

''The NFF Executive Committee as it was composed on 25 August 2014, meaning under the presidency of Aminu Maigari, should then convene as soon as possible a first extraordinary general assembly to elect the members of the electoral committee and a second extraordinary general assembly in the shortest time possible allowed by law in order to proceed with the elections of new NFF office-bearers.''

Biting: Suarez loses appeal but free to train with Barcelona

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has upheld Luis Suarez’s four-month ban from football, but has allowed him to train with Barcelona.

Suarez will be allowed to train with his new team Barcelona, but will not participate in any football-related activity as stipulated in the original verdict.

This means that Suarez will make his debut in October when Barcelona confront Real Madrid in La Liga, the first El-clasico of the season.

FIFA makes u-turn, lifts suspension on Nigerian Football

The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has lifted the suspension placed on the Nigerian Football Federation 9 July 2014 on account of government interference.

Vanguard, reports that NFF stated in a release: “FIFA has noted that the court proceedings and order preventing the president of the NFF, the NFF Executive Committee members and the NFF Congress from running the affairs of Nigerian football that prompted the suspension have been withdrawn.

“As statutory order has been reinstated at the NFF and the legitimate bodies reinstalled, FIFA has decided to lift the suspension as of today, Friday 18 July 2014.

“The lifting of the suspension means that all rights of the NFF as a FIFA member as defined in article 12 of the FIFA Statutes are reinstated,” it said.

Breaking: FIFA Emergency Committee suspends Nigeria

FIFA’s Emergency Committee has decided to suspend the football body with immediate effect, due to government interference.

It was reported Last week that, Alhaji Aminu Maigari was sacked by a court, a move which FIFA claims contravenes Article 13, par. 1 and article 17, par. 1 of its Statutes, which demands that member associations manage their affairs independently, without influence from third parties.
