'I will never relegate my calling at NFF for Arsenal' - Amaju Pinnick defends self

Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick has explained why he was in England on Sunday after he was spotted at the Wembley Stadium where Arsenal defeated Chelsea to clinch the 2015 Community Shield.

Pinnick who is known to be an Arsenal fan was criticized by some section of Nigerian football lovers for going abroad to follow a foreign league game at the expense of National Team duties.

Nigeria U23 Dream Team and the Super Falcons were on duty in Congo and Banta respectively on Sunday for a spot in the Rio 2016 Olympics.

''Hello all, no doubt I am an Arsenal fan but I will never relegate my calling at NFF for Arsenal, he said in a statement.

''When Arsenal was playing against Manchester some months ago, I was on the road to Ibadan to watch 3SC against Rangers. My vision about my mission in NFF is clear and by God's grace we shall get there.

''I came to London for meetings with a consortium of would be sponsors, some requested to see the head coach.

Aside that, there are lots of global politics going on and if Nigeria must be accorded her pride of place in global football politics, then we must participate at the highest level.

''I appeal for your understanding and prayers, nothing good comes easy, I love you all AMP.''

Meanwhile, Nigeria Dream Team qualified at the expense of Congo while the Super Falcons failed to make it to the Olympics

Wenger tags attacking options as best in years after bashing City in Community Shield

After humiliating Manchester City in the final of the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday, Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger has issued a warning to other top teams to beware of his attacking options which he termed as the best he has had in years.

Obviously, Wenger is a happy man considering the squad he has been able to put together. However, speaking after the 3-0 victory against a top side like City, Wenger told Newsmen -  ''I have more attacking options than I had for a long time - that's for sure.

''Three, four, five years ago, every year we lost a big player. In the last two years, we added players like Ozil and this season like Alexis so of course that strengthens the squad.

''I am of course very ambitious but I'm a bit cautious because I have quite a good experience. I look around and see the other teams have strengthened as well so it will be interesting to watch the Premier League because it looks like all the big teams will be very strong.''

The Frenchman also confirmed Mikel Arteta as the new Gunners captain to be viced by Per Martesacker just hours after the departure of Thomas Vermaelen.

Arsenal beat 3-0 Manchester City to claim Community Shield

Arsenal defeated Manchester City 3-0 to lift the Community Shield title at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

The Gunners opened scoring through Santi Cazola who scored in the 21^st minute while Aaron Ramsey made it a double before the stoke of half time to cap their dominance in the game.

Yaya Sanogo made way for fellow countryman Olivier Giroud who grabbed his share to make it worse for City and win their second title in four months after the FA Cup glory.
