Arsenal trio nominated for German Football Ambassador Award

Arsenal's Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski have been shortlisted for the German Football Ambassador Award.

Other players of the nine men and two women nominated for the awards include Shkodran Mustafi, Anja Mittag, Miroslav Klose, Nadine Angerer, Toni Kroos, Thomas Broich, Cacau, Kevin Kuranyi.

According to reports Supported by the German government, the award seeks to recognize German footballers playing abroad who have been ''ambassadors'' for their country.

The award takes into account players' contributions both on and off the pitch.

Inter Milan striker Lukas Podolski tips Neuer for FIFA Ballon D'or

Germany international Lukas Podolski has tipped compatriot Manuel Neuer for the prestigious FIFA Ballon d'or Award.

The Germany and Bayern Munich Goalkeeper is among the final three nominees for the award with Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi as the other two.

Podolski who recently joined Inter Milan on loan from Arsenaltook to social media on Friday to show his support ''I want to voice my support for @Manuel_Neuer in the race 4 the Ballon D'or, what more do you need to do to win? #worldchampion #thebest'' - he said on Twitter.

The event holds on January 12th in Zurich.
