EPL Round up: Manchester City close in on Chelsea after destroying Newcastle, United beaten and Arsenal win away

Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley at home after Jose Mourinho’s men took the lead through a deft Branislav Ivanovic in the first half.
The table toppers then had Nemanja Matic sent off in the second half, before Burnley drew level.

Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud scored to see Arsenal to a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

In other games, Swansea defeated Manchester United 2-1, Victor Moses scored from the spot to see Stoke City defeat Aston Villa 2-1 at Villa Park after coming from behind.

Hull City beat QPR 2-1 in a match which saw Joey Barton sent off and there were no goals between Sunderland and West Bromich Albion.

In the last match of the day, Manchester City destroyed Newcastle United putting five goals past Tim Krul to reduce the gap between them and league leader to five points.

Stoke shock City, Goals galore as Chelsea beat Everton

Mame Biram scored the lone goal that helped Stoke City secured their first win in the premier league this season as they edged Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
 
It took just 36 seconds to get the game started as new Chelsea signing, Diego Costa scored from a Cesc Fabregas pass to begin the nine-goal thriller against Everton at the Gudison Park.
 
Jose Mourinho's men showed their scoring ability as Eden Hazard, Ramires and Matic all got on the scorer's sheet to grab a superb 6-3 away victory.

Former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto's was also on the scorer's chat but for his new club Everton to mark his debut.
 
In an early match, Manchester United were away at Burnley in a quest to grab a first victory since the start of a new season under a new gaffer.
 
United failed to unlock the newly promoted side despite the presence of the record signing Angel Di Maria who could only pull a few passes to see the game ending goalless.
 
Other results saw Swansea defeat West Bromich Albion 3-0, Queens Park Rangers 1-0 Sunderland, Westham United 1-3 Southampton,

English Premier League: Chelsea still the Leading ‘’Horse’’


John Terry’s dying minute lone goal against Everton was all Chelsea needed to stay atop of the English Premier League this week.

With serious tailing by the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City who also secured maximum points to keep the chase close.

Returning from the 0-2 loss to Bayern Munich in Champions League encounter midweek, Arsenal reacted with a 4-1 humiliation of Sunderland at the Emirates while Manchester City also bounced back from the midweek punishment from Barcelona as they defeated Stoke City 1-0.

Arsenal are one point behind the league leaders while City are three points with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Manchester United also tasted victory beating Crystal Palace by a margin of two goals to nil in London on later in the evening.
