Striking players of the Super Eagles have agreed to travel to Brazil for
the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup after calling off their strike over a bonus
row on Thursday.
According to supersport.com the team is now billed to travel to Brazil this
Saturday after missing their flight over money dispute.
Simply put, the players rejected winning bonuses of $5,000 each following
their 1-0 win over the Harambee Stars.
The players demanded $10,000 each as usual but the NFF said it was
cash-strapped to pay such an amount after laying off two of the team's
assistant coaches, Sylvanus Okpala and Valere Houandinou as well as a number of
backroom staff.
The players were given $2,500 each as bonuses for the draw against Namibia in Windhoek on Wednesday which led to the strike.
The African champions kick off their campaign at the Confederations Cup against Oceania champions, Tahiti, in Belo Horizonte on Monday.
