Ofcourse, most of the FC Barcelona family were gathered at the wedding of Xavi
Hernández and Nuria Cunillera at the Castell de Sant Joan de Blanes
at the weekend overlooking the Mediterranean in Catalunya.
Totalbarca.com reports that the couple privately tied the knot in a civil ceremony in Ullastrell a
couple of days ago, they then threw a private celebration with
around 180 of their dearest family and friends.
One of the major
absences is Carles Puyol, who had travel plans with his girlfriend since
before Xavi and Nuria surprisingly announced their wedding plans two
months ago. The couple is known for their privacy and discretion, with
no speculation about their plans reported by the press before their
announcement.
The 31-year-old fashion journalist, who works in the PR sector, has
been Xavi’s partner since before last year’s European Championship, to
which she accompanied him to Poland and Ukraine. She is described as
reserved and not a fan of being in the public’s eye, much like her new
husband.
The guests included Iniesta and Anna – his wife, Messi and Antonella,
and David Villa with his wife Patricia. Víctor Valdés was the first of
the guest to arrive with his partner, Yolanda, while fellow La Masia
graduate, and national teammate Pepe Reina was also among the crowd,
probably the highlight of the after party. Fellow national goalkeeper
Iker Casillas did not attend, as he is spending the few remaining days
of the summer holidays with his pregnant girlfriend Sara Carbonero.
Former FC Barcelona players and La Masia graduates Oleguer Presas
(right-back) and Albert Jorquera (goalkeeper) were also present, as well
as current club mates Busquets, Cesc, and Pedro.
The newlyweds will be heading for the Seychelles for their honeymoon, before Xavi reports for preseason training on July 29.
