Yaya Toure is staying put at Manchester City - Pellegrini

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has defended his midfielder midfielder Yaya Toure and says the Ivorian international would not be leaving the club.

The 31-year-old has not replicated his last season's form when he scored 24 goals in all competitions, 20 of which came in the Premier League but has scored 8 goals this season so far.

''I repeat we are not talking about that,'' the Chilean snapped.

''Yaya is a very important player for our team. Maybe all of you are waiting for me to criticize him or sacrifice him.

''Yaya will continue playing here because he is a very important player for me and the squad and the fans for everyone.''

The Etihad will be lighted up when City host West Ham midday on sunday.
