Andy Murray has confirmed he will not participate in the French Open because of a back injury. The world No2 said he had made the decision
after consulting specialists. "It's been a really tough decision, and I
love playing in Paris, but after seeking medical advice I'm not fit to
compete," he said.
The French Open, which is the second grand slam tournament of the year, begins at Roland Garros on Sunday 26 May
The 26-year-old reached the Roland Garros quarter-finals last year,
losing to David Ferrer before enjoying a glorious few months, reaching
his first Wimbledon final, landing the Olympic gold medal at SW19, and
triumphing at the US Open to win his first grand slam.
