His name is Andy Caroll, signed by Kenny Dalglish at a record signing, he cost Liverpool £35m but could only survive a few months, Liverpool lost £20 having to offload him to Westham manager Brendan Rodgers claims the 25-year-old is one of the best target men in Europe.
The ex-Reds striker moved to West Ham shortly after
Rodgers’ appointment at the Merseyside outfit, with reports
suggesting the frontman was not a part of the coach’s plans for
his new season.
But despite the nature of Carroll’s exit, Rodgers insists he would
have been a great asset if he stayed at Anfield.
"I think he is one of the best players in Europe in how he plays -
that style of attacking the ball in the air is outstanding.
"When I came in here, everyone knew the way I worked and it was
never to say Andy couldn't work that way, but we had other
certain financial aspects of the football club we had to look at.
