Chelsea secured a 0-0 draw in the first leg encounter in Spain.

Banana Throwing Fan banned for life

The Villareal fan who threw a Banana at Dani Alves during a La Liga match on Sunday has been identified and banned for life by the club.

Alves picked up the Banana, peeled and ate it before taking the corner kick to make a mess of the racist taunt.

According to reports from Spain, the concerned club has however issued a statement which reads "Villarreal CF wants to communicate that the club deeply regrets and condemns the incident that happened yesterday during the match against FC Barcelona in which a fan threw an object onto the field of El Madrigal.

"Thanks to the security forces and the invaluable assistance of the Yellow crowd, the club has already identified the person and has decided to withdraw his season tickets, permanently banning his access to El Madrigal stadium.

"Once again our club would like to express its firm commitment to promoting respect, equality, sportsmanship and fair play both on and off the field and our absolute rejection of any act that is contrary to these principles, such as violence, discrimination, racism and xenophobia."

Barcelona however openly condemned the act while Alves and other players like Sergio Aguero and Neymar made fun of the taunt suggesting that the best way to handle such matter is to make a humour of it.

What on earth is wrong with this Chelsea Style of football

It is a known fact that neither UEFA or FIFA has proposed strict rule on which pattern of play to be effected by football clubs but today Chelsea's style of play has often been criticized especially when they are in dire need of a result.

Over the years, Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho has been known to be a result oriented man, wether by hook or by crook and that has worked for him overtime.

In fact this style of football has been labelled by some as negative football. Ask Barcelona in 2010 in a UEFA champions league match, semi final to be specific....

Just last week the world saw a tip in the Semi final tie against Athletico Madrid, as the Blues made it difficult for the Spaniards to penetrate nor come close to their goalie in open play.

That's what the all defensive tactics does, looking more like a 4-6-0.

When this season's English Premier League looked to have tilted towards Liverpool with the Anfield side being on top while Chelsea and other contenders trailed with a few points that could change. Liverpool had their destiny in their own hands confronting Chelsea in a situation where a win would mean a lot to their title hopes and a loss wouldn't do them good.

MOU's men made it difficult for the Brendan Rogers tutored side and it was all about who could break the ice. Chelsea eventually secured a win through Demba Ba and William to close in on points.

When asked if he would employed the same tactics, Rogers answered,
"I think there were two buses parked today, never mind one.

“Jose’s happy to play that way and he’ll probably shove his CV in front of me and say it works, but it’s not my way of working. I like to take the initiative in games, try to dominate and let my players express themselves.

“We were the better team on the ball and we were the team that wanted to win the game, I don’t think there’s any dispute about that, but it’s hard to reinforce it when you lose.

“It was difficult because they virtually played from the off with a back-six, they had ten players behind the ball for most of the game, and we just found it difficult to break them down. They’re a very experienced group of players.

“But for me, we’ve got a way of working and I take great pride in that, and we might not have got the result today but we’ve seen over most of the season that we’ve made great strides and we’ll continue to do that.

“It’s a defensive style of football , the polar opposite to how we work. If it gets results, great. Jose got his result today and he’ll be happy with that, but it’s the total opposite to how we work.

“It’s not difficult to coach to have ten players right on your 18-yard box, but it obviously makes it much harder to break through and they do it well.

“What the game will certainly do is prepare us for Crystal Palace, we’ll have to deal with long balls forward, long throw-ins and lots of players behind the ball, which we’ll be prepared for now.”

Obviously Rogers doesn't buy the MOU idea of getting a result by whatever means but the politics of parking the bus seem to be a working tactics right now. Not everyone will play like Barcelona or Bayern or even Liverpool.

Wenger believes Arsenal Could have won the League if....

Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger says the combination of Injuries and inability to win big games cost his side the English Premier League title.

The Gunners were at a point sitting comfortably atop the table but lost it in the long run. They lost "scandalous" to Chelsea 6-0, bashed  by Liverpool 5-1 and lost 6-3 Manchester City earlier in the season.

According to Talksport.com,  asked by beIN Sport why Arsenal's title bid had fallen apart, Wenger said: "For two reasons. The important injuries we had and the big fixtures during that period.

"We didn't manage to win the big games. If we had everybody on board we could have won it. We were 17 or 18 times top of the league during the season but we lost Walcott, [Jack] Wilshere, [Mesut] Ozil, Ramsey and [Laurent] Koscielny at an important part of the season.

"It's just too much. If you imagine Manchester City without [David] Silva, [Yaya] Toure and [Vincent] Kompany at the same period of the season, it's not the same team."

One could not casually separate the down-sliding from the injuries suffered by key members of the team like Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey and also Mesut Ozil.

When Mourinho Speaks Sleeping Dogs Can't sleep in Peace

It can be said without fear of contradiction that Chelsea Manager Jose mourinho is a man love by the Press, but if you think otherwise you can enquire from the bookmakers, vendors, online content publishers or global football lovers.

The above assertion is hinged on the fact that every time the Portuguese speaks either in a press conference or any statement at all, he raises issues, simply put, "sleeping dogs don't lay in peace."

What has he said this time? His sarcastic comments landed him into hot water and he will pay for it.

The Blues boss was charged with misconduct for his post-match
comments, in which he congratulated both referee Mike Dean for his performance and head of refereeing body Professional Game Match Officials Limited Mike Riley.

Chelsea made it clear that the charge would not discussed at Friday's press conference although Mourinho did add: "Every time I speak there is a consequence.

"Even if I say that a referee was amazing that was a reason to be with a charge. I can't say the truth. I don't feel free at all. If you want a better press conference, speak with the FA."

Before now, during his first spell with the club, he was known as the special one, on returning from Real Madrid for his second experience, he declared himself as "The Happy One".  You don't want to overlook that, do you?

He has been sent off the bench many times for unruly acts, he's been sanctioned yet he won't change. That is Mourinho! He must talk.

Valencia tops Fastest Footballers in the World

By Odulaja Adetayo
Pace is a vital part of the modern day game whether it be the striker or winger attempting to breach the opponent’s defence or the powerhouse box to box midfielder in the engine room. Even centre backs who possess pace nowadays hold a big advantage over attackers. FIFA has worked out a way of calculating the quickest there is. These are the top ten…

#10 – ALEXIS SANCHEZ – BARCELONA – CHILE
Barcelona’s Chilean winger is ranked number 10 in the world’s fastest players list. The speedy winger has reached a top speed of 30.1 kilometres per hour which equals 18.7 miles per hour for the former Udinese winger.

#9 – ARJEN ROBBEN – BAYERN MUNICH – NETHERLANDS
Dutch attacker Arjen Robben combines his death-defying pace with outstanding dribbling ability making him a defenders nightmare. The former Chelsea man has led Bayern to the Bundesliga title this year clocking up a speed of 30.7 kilometres per house equalling 19.1 miles per hour.

#8 – FRANCK RIBERY – BAYERN MUNICH – FRANC
His French team-mate Franck Ribery makes the list at number eight. Ribery enjoyed one his best ever seasons last campaign finishing a respectable third in the race for the FIFA Ballon d’Or and leading his side to a remarkable treble. He has also clocked up a tally of 30.7 kmph and 19.1 mph.

#7 – WAYNE ROONEY – MANCHESTER UNITED – ENGLAND
English international Wayne Rooney must be faster than he looks as he makes the list at number seven. Once the former Everton striker kicks into top gear he record a 32.1 kilometre per hour speed which is 19.9 miles per hour. Not bad Wayne.

#6 – LIONEL MESSI – BARCELONA – ARGENTINA
Lionel Messi, the world’s best footballer in the eyes of many, however he is recognised for his goal-scoring ability rather than his pace. The 26 year old hasn’t enjoyed the best of campaigns for his club struggling with injuries and the recent misfortune of Barcelona. Messi reaches 32.5 kilometres per hour or 20.2 miles per hour.

#5 – THEO WALCOTT – ARSENAL – ENGLAND
Arsenal forward Theo Walcott of Arsenal has always been well-known as a speed merchant and makes the top five fastest players in the world. Walcott’s hopes of making the World Cup were dashed after an injury for the Gunners. Nevertheless, once back to full fitness, Walcott clocks a high of 32.7 kilometres per hour at 20.3 miles per hour.

#4 – CRISTIANO RONALDO – REAL MADRID – PORTUGAL
Cristiano Ronaldo, the Ballon d’Or winner but not the world’s fastest player despite his quickness. The Portuguese international’s pace is one of his best attributes and coupled with his dribbling and agility makes him one of the world’s most dangerous players. The winger can reach a speed of 33.6 kilometres per hour which equates to 20.9 miles per hour.

#3 – AARON LENNON – TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR – ENGLAND
Aaron Lennon is the third English player to make the list at number three. The third fastest player in the world according to FIFA has always been a speedster at White Hart Lane reaching up to 33.8 kmph which translates to 21 mph.

#2 – GARETH BALE – REAL MADRID – WALES
Welshman Gareth Bale, the world’s most expensive player, is the second fastest player in the world. The former Tottenham man has transformed from a defender to an attacker utilising his devastating pace as an offensive weapon. This was highlighted in the recent Copa Del Ray final against Barcelona where he exploded past Barca defender Marc Bartra, Bale ran off the field before collecting the ball and placing it through the legs of Pinto to hand Madrid the trophy. Bale reaches 34.7 kilometres per hour and 21.6 miles per hour.

#1 – ANTONIO VALENCIA – MANCHESTER UNITED – ECUADOR
Perhaps a surprising inclusion in the list, especially at number one is Manchester United’s Ecuadorian winger Antonio Valencia. According to FIFA the 28 year old is the fastest footballer on the planet despite not being first choice at Old Trafford. The winger reaches 35.2 kilometres per hour and 21.9 miles per hour.

United players should be ashamed - Keane

Reports have it that former Manchester United Captain, Roy Keane believes United’s Players 'should be ashamed of themselves' following the sacking of David Moyes.

According to Supersport.com Keane told ITV last night in the build up to Chelsea's Champions League semi-final at Atletico Madrid, that it was obvious Moyes did not have the support of the dressing room.

'He (Moyes) had a hard start,' Keane said. 'Last summer, when he took the job, the chief executive didn't get the deals done and they had a slow start.'

Keane added: 'I think it's a shame - he should have been given more time. Some of the players should be ashamed of themselves because they really let him down.'

Keane also feels Sir Alex Ferguson should not be blamed for his role in the appointment of Moyes famously referred to as ”The Chosen One' insisting 'You can't be critical of Sir Alex Ferguson. It wasn't necessarily his pick, he put his name forward but the club made the decision.”

Keane concluded however that 'To be seventh in the league is disappointing and you still have to take responsibility for that but he didn't have the support of the players.

FIFA Suspend Barcelona Ban

Regarding the recent suspension of Fc Barcelona on Transfer matters, FIFA has decided to lift the ban as the matter is yet to be resolved.

According to a statement on the world football governing body's website, Barcelona can now participate in the transfer market during the summer.

The statement reads "The club FC Barcelona has lodged an appeal before the FIFA Appeal Committee against the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee that sanctioned the club for breaches relating to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18. Together with the appeal, the club requested that its appeal be granted suspensive effect."

"In this respect, the chairman of the FIFA Appeal Committee, Larry Mussenden, took into consideration the sanctions imposed against the club, the complexity of the matter, the start date of the next registration period – 1 July 2014 – and the fact that the FIFA Appeal Committee does not seem in a position to take a decision on the main issue early enough so that an eventual appeal of the club against its decision before the Court of Arbitration for Sport would still be decided before the beginning of the next registration period. Consequently, the chairman of the FIFA Appeal Committee considered that the appeal lodged by the club is to be granted suspensive effect."

"In view of the foregoing, the chairman of the FIFA Appeal Committee assures that proper and adequate appeal proceedings will take place and, at the same time, that all rights of the club will be respected."

The club was found to have broken the rules in the case of 10 under-18 players with a 14-month transfer ban and a fine of £305,000 as punishment.

Another Coach Sacked!

Mike Woodson was fired as coach of the New York Knicks in the first major move by Phil Jackson since he became team president last month.

Bloomberg reports that Woodson and his entire staff were dismissed after the team failed to reach the National Basketball Association playoffs. The Knicks wrapped up their season April 16 with a 95-92 home victory over the Toronto Raptors to finish with a 37-45 record.

“The coaches and players on this team had an extremely difficult 2013-14 season, and blame should not be put on one individual,” Jackson said in an e-mailed release. “But the time has come for change throughout the franchise as we start the journey to assess and build this team for next season and beyond.”

The search for a new staff will begin immediately, the team said.

Bye Moyes! United part ways with Manager

Manchester United have sacked manager David Moyes CNN reports

"Manchester United announces that David Moyes has left the club," said the English Premier League team in a statement on the club's official Twitter feed.

"The club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role."

Moyes succeeded Alex Ferguson last May but has overseen a lackluster campaign, with the club lying seventh in the table having amassed 57 points from 34 games.

United slipped to an 11th league defeat this season against the Scot's former club Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday -- a result that finally ended any mathematical chance of participating in next season's Champions League.

The three-time winner of the European club football's biggest prize is now 13 points behind fourth-placed Arsenal with four games remaining. The last time United failed to qualify was in 1995 and their chances of even playing in the Europa League next season are slim.

"The football and the results have been poor," former Manchester United defender Gary Neville told Sky Sports News. "The performances have got worse and worse."

Moyes, who turns 51 on Friday, signed a six-year-deal with English football's most successful club last May, when the outgoing Ferguson personally endorsed his appointment.

"David is a man of great integrity with a strong work ethic ... There is no question he has all the qualities we expect of a manager at this club," Ferguson said of his compatriot.

UEFA Champions League: A date with Chelsea delights Courtois

Athletico Madrid Goal keeper Thibuat Courtios has revealed that he is delighted to have been cleared by UEFA to play against his parent club Chelsea, in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Last week, UEFA waived a fee that Atletico Madrid were to pay the Blues, if the two clubs face each other.

“I’m very relieved. That we’ve drawn Chelsea is special because even though I’m at Atleti, Chelsea are my club,” the Belgian told Uefa.com.

It is the first time the La Liga club will qualify for the Champions League last four since 1974 and Courtois is desperate to win silverware with Diego Simeone’s side.

“I want to win trophies here and I’ll be an Atleti supporter for these two games, but at all other timesI’m a Chelsea fan too,” added Courtois, who has never played for the Stamford Bridge club since signing a
five-year contract on his arrival from Genk for an undisclosed fee in 2011.

“I hope they win the Premier League, just not these two
matches. I really hope we can reach the final as we’re
so close. They’re the favourites, but Barca were too.”

The Matter at Old Trafford Madden Juan Mata

After a disastrous Easter meeting with Everton at the Gudison Park, Juan Mata reveals how pained he is at the loss.

The former Cheslse midfielder told the club website that the loss Madden him.

"I do know that you may win or lose, that this is sport and it's part
of the game. But I hate this feeling.

"I feel very disappointed today. This is how you feel when you
spend two weeks waiting for a game, getting ready for it, and then
things don't go the way you wanted. It happened at Goodison Park
and the truth is this is not the first time, as you know. Honestly,
everything looked good at the start and we were looking forward to
winning the game for our fans, but their first goal from the penalty
spot came as a blow. For them it had exactly the opposite effect:
Everton got more confidence, especially after scoring a second
goal, and after that moment, the script of the match went to fit
their needs."

"Giroud deserves more praise" - Ex Arsenal Star

Olivier Giroud has come under fierce criticism in the past few months but showed his class and fired in against Westham on Tuesday night in a match Arsenal won 3-1.

The Frenchman is the top man who plays alone upfront for the Gunner but Kevin Campbell claimed Arsenal would still be fighting for the title if they had
another forward of the Frenchman’s class.

According to Talksport.com Campbell reckons the 27-year-old deserves more praise for the job he has done this term and feels another top-quality striker may have stopped Arsenal slipping from title challengers to Champions League hopefuls.

“Giroud has been a shining light for Arsenal this season,” said the
ex-Gunners hitman, speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast .
“He has had to lead the line himself for a lot of the season and
now he has scored 17, 18 goals.

"Getting in some goalscoring help could have been the difference
between Arsenal being in a challenging position for the title and
having to fight for fourth place. Olivier Giroud couldn’t play the
whole season on his own.”

The Big Job: Beat Chelsea and win the League

For over 20 years, Anfield has not tasted glory. Now, they are at the driver's sit in the Barclays Premier League and would be indeed glad to have a feel of the trophy at a time like this.

Liverpool edged fellow title contenders Manchester City 3-2 to ease to a 10th consecutive Barclays Premier League triumph on Sunday after goals from Raheem Sterling and Martin Skrtel capped a dominant first-half showing.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men were level in the second half. First, David Silva got on the end of a fluid move to reduce the deficit, before Glen deflected the ball past Simon Mignolet. Philippe Coutinho struck and it was all over for City on the fateful day.

Beating fellow title contenders, Manchester City was a massive boost to their quest as they currently sit atop the table with 77points, and four games left. With such a performance against City on a day everything worked in their favour. The early goal by Sterling, Yaya Toure's exit due to injury, also bearing in mind the emotions around the the stadium before the kick off (The Hillsborough incidence).

They have shown that they are like a moving train that will only stop at will. At this juncture, it should be said that the title is theirs to lose i.e they have their own destiny in their hands.
Even the Manager Brendan Rogers hailed his side's performance as impressive in the game against City.

Going forward, Liverpool take a trip to Norwich by the weekend, then they face Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Newcastle in the final straw. They (Liverpool) will need to win all the four matches left most importantly, a victory against the Blues from Londand will determine their fate and then City's outstandings will be inconsequential.

Arsenal beat Wigan to make FA Cup final so what?

Arsenal took a giant step toward finishing with a trophy this season after beating Wigan Athletic 4-2 on penalties in the English FA Cup on Saturday.

Per Martesacker levelled up for Arsenal minutes to full time to send the match into extra time, making up for his error that put the defending champions ahead through a penalty kick.

Arsenal were tagged favourites ahead of the match but the victory didn't come by easily as the Championship side kept Arsenal forward led by Yaya Sanogo at bay.

Wigan had not lost a match in about 12 matches before this ties and one can only say kudos to such a team for surging and aspiring to defend their title, but to end the journey here isn't totally a bad outing.

Winning the tie was very important for Arsenal as they are in the race of making up for a "messed" season having lost grip on the Barclays Premier League to deserving Liverpool who are steering carefully and cautiously for now at least.

In fact, if the Londoners had lost to Wigan, the credentials of Arsene Wenger not only have been dented but the entire team. Questions would have been raised especially on the quality of the team without a few members on injury. Simply put, it would have been embarrassing and disastrous.

Arsene Wenger needs start walking with his shoulders high, the players must begin to approach games with super confidence and not with fear of being shocked or dismantled as they did on Saturday, Arsenal fans across the globe are earnestly waiting for an end to the nine years title drought, and this seems like a real chance to have a feel of "champions" and save their faces.

Do you share Aaron Ramsey's view on his Facebook account in the photo below?

FA Cup or Premier League: Arsenal are on the begging side

It is no longer news that Arsenal have not won a trophy in the last nine years, and that should be the drive as they face a side that has already beaten three Premier League teams including Man City to make the FA Cup Semi final.

Wigan are not doing badly on home front in the Championship having moved from fourteen to fifth position also with an impressive run of about 12 matches in the FA Cup.

It could be recalled that they (Wigan) are also defending champions in the tournament and would relish a chance to defend their title in the final with hopes of seeing off Arsenal to progress.

Without doubts, Arsenal are favourites in this tie but even the Gunners Manager, Arsene Wenger knows it's not a walk over owing to Wigan's antecedents.

Arsenal are currently 4th on the English Premier League table, about 10 points behind leaders Liverpool, but being pressured by Everton who may just overtake the Londoners if they continue with their unimpressive run. Beaten silly by Everton last weekend with very uninspiring performance from the team, slumped to Chelsea and Liverpool earlier....

Whether anyone likes it or not, Arsenal have lost the premier league title this season. Hope of a title as the manager puts it lies in the 4th place finish and not forgetting a result in the much coveted FA Cup which they last won about nine years ago after beating Manchester United 5-4 on penalties.

In fact, Arsenal are faced with a situation that even Wenger doesn't want to answer to, if the FA Cup or a 4th place finish. Anyway, time shall tell.

Chelsea Chief agrees that Courtois can play for Athletico

Just as the Semi final draw was held in Switzerland, Chelsea Chief Executive Ron Gourlay spoke about goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois,
currently on loan at Atletico Madrid referring to UEFA statement released on Friday in response to media reports on the
situation.

'The loan was arranged at the start of the season and it
is quite simple, Courtois can play against Chelsea, that
was never in doubt,' said Gourlay.

'Regarding the UEFA statement, we will evaluate that
over the course of the next 24 or 48 hours and we will
comply with the rules, and he can play against Chelsea in
both games.'

Gourlay on the fixture agreed that it's not going to be easy but his side are prepared for the challenge having come this far.

UEFA clear Athletico goalie Courtois for Chelsea clash

Amidst the much expected semi final draws, UEFA has moved to clarify that it expects Belgium international Thibuat Courtois to be free to face the Blues in both legs.

A statement from European football's governing body read: "The
integrity of sporting competition is a fundamental principle for
UEFA.

"Both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA disciplinary
regulations contain clear provisions which strictly forbid any club
to exert, or attempt to exert, any influence whatsoever over the
players that another club may (or may not) field in a match.

"It follows that any provision in a private contract between clubs
which might function in such a way as to influence who a club
fields in a match is null, void and unenforceable so far as UEFA is
concerned.

"Furthermore, any attempt to enforce such a provision would be a
clear violation of both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA
disciplinary regulations and would therefore be sanctioned
accordingly."

It was reported that Chelsea would allow the Spanish side to play
the Belgian in both legs of the semi, provided they paid a fee of
around 3million euros for each game but this however clarifies the matter.

Ramsey to start, others face late fitness test for Wigan in FA Cup clash

Aaron Ramsey is set to start against Wigan in the FA Cup date on Saturday, Arsenal Wenger has hinted.

The midfielder who has been out for months made his return last weekend in the disastrous loss against Everton as he was introduced in the second half.

Speaking generally on other members of the squad, Wenger said "I. cannot give you concrete team news because we have so many uncertainties about Chamberlain (groin), Gibbs (ankle), Rosicky (thigh). There will be last-minute decisions on those three players. They are all 50:50.

On Ozil and Koscielny he said "Ozil and Koscielny are still out. I think the earliest to come back for Koscielny could be Tuesday and for Ozil it could be next Saturday. That would be a boost because at the moment we have too many players out and it's important we get them back. We know that at this period of the season, the number of players we had out is too many.

"Meanwhile Diaby is back to full training next week. He could be available soon, maybe in a couple of weeks."

English FA fine Mourinho for improper Conduct

Blues manager Jose Mourinho has been fined £8,000 by the Football Association and warned as to his future conduct after re-entering the field of play during last month's Premier League game with Aston Villa.

Mourinho came onto the pitch to demonstrate with referee Chris Foy towards the end of their 1-0 defeat at Villa Park on 15 March.

He requested a personal hearing with the FA on Wednesday but they decided to punish him for his actions.

Chelsea ended the match with only nine players after Willian and Ramires were sent off, with the second dismissal leading to the incident with Mourinho.

Athletico Madrid edge out clueless Barca as Bayern beat United to qualify for UCL Semi final

This is probably the most uninspiring and lackluster performance Barcelona have played this season as they were dumped out of the Champions league by Athletico Madrid in the second leg clash of the quarter- final.

Koke's early goal was all the Madrid side needed to edge Barcelona in the tie ending on a 2-1 aggregate. It could be recalled that the first leg ended 1-1 at the Camp Nou last week.

Also on the night, European champions Bayern Munich came from behind to claim a 3-1 win over Manchester United to give them a 4-2 aggregate success .

After a goalless first-half, United took the lead in the Allianz Arena when Patrice Evra fired home a wonderful half-volley from the edge of the box.

But Mario Mandzukic headed home from close-range in less than a minute later while Thomas Muller converted from the edge of the six-yard box to put Bayern ahead and Robben finished off in the later minutes.

Yes or Yes: These Chelsea Strikers are reliable

For some weeks, the potency of these three strikers (Samuel Etoo, Demba Ba and Fernando Torres) have been questioned by the club manager, fans and even supporters at large owing to their performance in recent times.

Reports have also suggested that some of these strikers will not remain at the club next season.

They are being paid to score goals, but goals can only be scored when given playing time.
Demba Ba was brought on with about 25minutes left against PSG and he proved to be the messiah. The question now is, do the have strikers or not? Or MOU simply doesn't believe in them anymore?

Demba Ba sends Chelsea to UCL Semi final

Chelsea FC  recorded a 2-0 victory over Paris Saint German at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter final.

Andre Schurrle replaced Eden Hazard who was pulled out after indication of injury in the 18th minute and he made his mark within 12 minutes of play scoring Chelsea's first goal. Demba Ba also came on later in the 2nd half to finish off the French side with just three minutes to full time.

The away goal Chelsea secured in Paris last week however helped the Londoners overturn the 3-1 loss.

In the other fixture, Marco Reus scored twice but was not enough to see Borussia Dortmund through to the next round over Real Madrid, having lost 3-0 at the Bernabeu in the first leg last week.

Both Chelsea and Real Madrid are thorough to the semi finals awaiting winner from Wednesday's fixtures to know likely opponents.

Rooney returns to training ahead of Bayern tie

Manchester United have been boosted by the news that Wayne
Rooney was able to take part in training on Tuesday ahead of their
Champions League quarter-final second-leg clash with Bayern
Munich.

He picked up a toe injury during the first leg at Old Trafford last week, and missed the weekend's convincing win overNewcastle United.

Rooney took part in full training session and it's an indication that he's improved over the weekend. His will be a massive addition to the squad if he eventually makes it through.

Chelsea, Dortmund gasp for the miraculous

Stamford Bridge will on Tuesday host French side Paris Saint German in a clash of hope as Chelsea looks to  overturn the 3-1 defeat they fell to last week in Paris during their UEFA Champions League quarter- final first leg tie.

While in Germany, Borussia Dortmund are also in the race for a great come back having lost the first leg in Spain  to Real Madrid 3-0.

According to Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp, "I don't think it is difficult to choose an approach for the game. We got a result in Madrid which does not leave us withmuch choice. As always, we will give our all to win. I cannot understand 100% why so many people are saying that we have to score in the first five minutes.

"I don't know how many miracles have been proclaimed before they
happened. We don't have any right to speak about that, but we have the right to give everything tomorrow and perform with will power. If we somehow get a result that takes us through, then great; if not, we want to say goodbye to the Champions League with a good performance."

On Chelsea's chances, Mourinho is convinced his team will prove their pedigree to prevail in the tie, despite only two clubs – Barcelona at
Chelsea's expense in 2000, and Chelsea against Napoli two years ago – having recovered from a 3-1 first leg deficit to progress in the revamped Champions League.

"PSG have what they have, we have what we have," the manager said. "If you ask me if I think we'll win, yes I think so. I think we are going to win, really, and, at the end of the two legs, we'll have scored more goals than them. Pure mathematics. It's 3-1 now, but in the end I think it can be 4-3, or 5-4 [to us]. If I don't think that, I won't go [to the game]. And I'm happy to go.

"We need to win. What do we need to show? The players have to show their quality, confidence, ambition … all these qualities which make a player play at the top level and a team to play at this level. I think if PSG are knocked out it will be a big disappointment for them. If we are knocked out it's something that, at this moment, lots of people are
expecting. That's why I say we have to enjoy the risk of the situation. Most important is the belief, and I believe. My players believe."

Your Turn Oscar: How and why Reeva Steenkamp was murdered

Oscar Pistorius will on Tuesday give his final account of how and why he killed his Model girlfriend.

The South African amputee athlete had on Monday taken to the witness stand to give his own account, where he apologized to the family of the Model. He sobbed as he did that, but according to reports the lady's family didn't show any signs of being touched by his sobbing but rather his own family.

According to Oscar  "I want to take this opportunity to apologise to Mr and Mrs Steenkamp. There hasn't been a moment since this tragedy
happened that I haven't thought about your family

"I wake up every morning and you're the first people I think of. The first people I pray for. I can’t imagine the pain and the sorrow and the emptiness that I’ve caused you and your family.

"I was simply trying to protect Reeva. I can promise you that when she went to bed that night she felt loved. I have tried to put my words on paper many times to write to you but no words would ever suffice.' Continue..

He also told the court his struggles since the incident, saying he
wakes up every morning 'smelling blood..and terrified". He
claimed he suffers from panic attacks and takes anti-depressant
medicine.

'I'm scared to sleep. I can smell blood and wake up terrified. I climbed into a cupboard and I phoned my sister to come and sit by me, which she did for a while. I'm just in a complete state of terror. I fall asleep and wake up like that.' He said

English Premier League: Liverpool back on top

Liverpool have made their way back to the summit of the Barclays Premier League after beating Westham 2-1 on Sunday evening.

On the scorers sheet are Steven Gerrard took a penalty earned by Luis Suarez, and he fired in another from the spot after a controversy.

Liverpool top the table with 74 pts, Chelsea 72, while City their next opponent and fellow title contenders are on 70 pts.

One eye on UCL Spot: Everton beat Arsenal

Everton put three goals past Arsenal at the Gudison Park on Sunday courtesy of goals from Steven Naismith, a solo effort by Romelu Lukaku, and an own goal by former Everton player Arteta.

With this victory, Everton are just a point behind Arsenal on 5th position with the hopes to outsmart the Gunners to the UEFA Champions League spot.

Arsenal hasn't lost to Everton in the last 15 meetings but Sunday's match was an emphatic win for the Everton side.

Having been out for months, Aaron Ramsey made his return to the squad replacing Podolski in the second half.

"The Table is fake" says Mourinho

After leading Chelsea to a comfortable victory against Stoke City at the Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Jose Mourinho believes his side's top of the table position if "fake".

It could be recalled that Chelsea midweek lost to Crystal Palace about a week ago and Paris Saint German midweek in the UCL.

"The situation is the same,” the Portuguese told newsman. “The
table is again fake. The table is again with lots of
matches in hand. You look to the top part of the table
and, some teams, they have more matches than others.
You look to the relegation area and it’s exactly the
same.

“In the top of the league we cannot say we need X
points to be champions. If you look at the relegation
area, Fulham or Cardiff or Norwich, they cannot say,
‘We need this number of points to survive’, because
they don’t know, because Sunderland have matches in
hand.

“This, in the best league in the world, I don’t think is the
best image we are giving and it’s not the best
situation. To play matches in hand in the last week of
the season, I don’t think is adapted to this top football
country.”

Speaking on winning away matches, he enjoined his players to
Adapt to getting results away from home.

The ex-Reds striker moved  to West Ham shortly after
Rodgers’ appointment at the Merseyside outfit, with reports

But despite the nature of Carroll’s exit, Rodgers insists he would
have been a great asset if he stayed at Anfield.

"I think he is one of the best players in Europe in how he plays -
that style of attacking the ball in the air is outstanding.

"When I came in here, everyone knew the way I worked and it was
never to say Andy couldn't work that way, but we had other
certain financial aspects of the football club we had to look at.

FOOTBALL: Italian Ref sends off wrong identical twin

Mistaken identity, it seems, is not the sole reserve of officials in the English Premier League with an Italian amateur football match ordered to be replayed after a referee sent off the wrong identical twin.

Andre Marriner was left red-faced when he sent off the wrong Arsenal player against Chelsea last month - dismissing Kieran Gibbs despite real culprit Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain owning up to handball.

In Italy, Michele Rossi, who plays for amateur side SSD Castello in the ninth level of Italian football, was sent off for a foul his brother Matteo committed against GS Alviano.

"The referee, purely due to error, in the 27th minute of the second half sent off SSD Castello's number seven Michele Rossi instead of their number nine Matteo Rossi," wrote Marco Brusco, the sporting judge of the Umbria regional league organisation.

Striker Matteo, who had put Castello 2-1 up, committed a foul that led to a row erupting between the two sides.
Amidst the chaos the referee, a Mr Cirillo from Terni, mistakenly sent off Michele instead of Matteo.

"It was an error that had an undoubted impact on the game and as such the match should be replayed," added Brusco.

Ozil, Ramsey set to return for Arsenal

Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey could give Arsenal a double fitness boost and return to their squad for the clash with Hull in just over a fortnight.

You'll agree that the absence of both players including Thoe Walcott who have all been sideline due to injury has had a toll on the team's performance.

Arsenal fans can't wait to see them return to the squad.

Nigeria enjoyed FIFA's favouritism to make 2014 World Cup - Ethiopia Coach

Former Ethiopia coach Sewnet Bishaw  has stated claims that world football’s governing body (FIFA) conspired to see them miss out on a place at the 2014 World Cup.

But Bishaw, who was relinquished of his duties with the Ethiopian national team following their failure to qualify, said “bringing the game into disrepute”.

“FIFA didn’t want us (Ethiopia) to qualify (for the World Cup) because who knows Ethiopian football and who wants us to qualify when we were playing against the current African Champions,” the coach told Football411 in an  interview.

“We played our hearts out and we wanted to win and qualify for the World Cup but FIFA didn’t like that. They awarded penalties for them (Nigeria) which were never penalties, and these things happens because FIFA wants them to qualify for the World Cup.

“It was a shame for Ethiopian football because we fought from the (first) blast of the whistle to the end. For me, Nigeria didn’t deserve to qualify because they were aided by FIFA, which is not good for the game of football.”

Certainly, this man needs to be reminded that his Walia Antelopes lost both home and away in their qualifying play-off against Nigeria, with the Super Eagles winning 2-1 in Ethiopia before securing a 2-0 victory at home in the return leg.
