SLAVERY OR NOT: Nigerian Fans divided over Ogenyi Onazi new €700,000 Lazio deal

Nigerian footballer Ogenyi Onazi recently signed a contract extension with Lazio which will keep him at the club until 2018, and according to reports the new deal will see the Nigerian international earn €700,000 (from €350,000) but some fans feel he should earn higher.

A group of the sport fans on Nairaland a (a popular forum) believes the Super Eagles midfielder is worth more while others feel the deal is just perfect since the Italian Serie A isn't such a high paying league and the young man is smiling to the bank.

The player is excited with this development having expressed his feeling via his twitter account just a few days back... @OgenyiOnazi,''I say a big thank you to God, my family, my team and my fans as I sign an extension to my contract''

Come to think of it, Onazi's new pay will see him take home around €15,000 per week. Hmm.... Fair enough?

Here are some top African player earning high in Europe:

Yaya Toure (Man City)................ ($15million)
Asamoah Gyan........................... ($10.9million)
Emmanuel Adebayor (Tottenham)... ($9.5million)
Didier Drogba (Chelsea)..............($6.2million)
Samuel Eto'o  (Everton)..............($5.9million)
John Mikel Obi (Chelsea)...........($5.8million)
