Echiejile's AS Monaco edge Arsenal to lift Emirates Cup

Elderson Echiejile and his French Lig 1 side Monaco have won the Emirates Cup to cause Arsenal another pain of losing the Cup for a second successive year.

Monaco beat the Gunners1-0 through a Radamel Falcao lone goal

The Gunners had beaten Benfica 5-1 on Saturday and needed at least a draw to win the mini-tournament, but Arsene Wenger’s men fired blanks.

Arsenal cried foul after they were denied a late penalty earned by Chuba Akpom who was fouled in the area. In the first match played on Sunday, Valencia ensured Benfica left the Emirates without a win, beating the Portuguese club 3-1.
